The stage is set for a high-stakes MLS weekend as the playoff picture tightens and new rivalries ignite.

Here are some of the best fixtures to key in on this weekend.

FC Cincinnati vs. Philadelphia Union

In a compelling showdown for the Eastern Conference summit, Philadelphia  (54 points) visit Cincinnati (52 points) in a battle for the Supporters’ Shield lead. The Union are vying to clinch not just a playoff spot but potentially the Shield itself under coach Bradley Carnell, in a remarkable turnaround from missing the postseason in 2024.

For Cincinnati, a win would secure MLS Cup playoff qualification, potentially push them ahead in the table, and extend their remarkable form, 55 wins across three seasons would be the most in league history

However, Union stars like Tai Baribo and Kai Wagner have been Eastern Conference killers for Philly all season long. Expect fireworks in this marquee clash.

Toronto FC vs. CF Montréal

One of MLS’s most storied rivalries returns to Toronto. The Canadian Classique, a clash of provincial pride, brings extra edge and emotion to your average MLS encounter. Points on the board matter just as much as bragging rights in this heated showdown at BMO Field.

While Montréal continue to languish in the doldrums of MLS, Toronto have begun their potentially expensive rebuild by bringing in the likes of Djordje Mihailovic, José Cifuentes, and former Montréal striker Jules-Anthony Vilsaint.

It is just simply one of those games. No matter what the form charts say, this fixture matters.

LAFC vs. San Diego FC

This Sunday Night Soccer spotlight turns to Los Angeles, as LAFC host high-flying MLS newcomers San Diego FC, a burgeoning rivalry in Southern California.

This match marks the home debut at BMO Stadium for marquee signing Heung-Min Son, who has dazzled since arriving, with a penalty drawn, an assist, and a stunning free-kick goal already under his belt.

LAFC need a result to climb back into the Western playoff picture, while San Diego have already clinched their postseason spot and lead the conference as an expansion side, lead in part consistent tactical performances and an star wingers Anders Dreyer and Chucky Lozano.
