Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos, after suffering an apparent injury against Kent State, did not return to the sideline for the Seminoles immediately after both teams returned to the field following a weather delay.
Castellanos left the game under his own power right before the weather delay, though did so while limping.
Freshman quarterback Kevin Sperry, who relieved Castellanos following the injury, resumed his duties under center as the Seminoles played out the rest of the second quarter. FSU scored immediately off a Samuel Singleton Jr. touchdown run.
With Florida State leading the Golden Flashes 35-7 with 2:29 in the second quarter, it was likely that Castellanos day wouldn’t have lasted much longer regardless.
On the game’s broadcast on the ACC Network, it was confirmed that he wouldn’t be returning to the game while being evaluated for a lower-body injury. He did, however, return to the sideline in full pads, jogging out of the tunnel to rejoin his teammates.
He finishes his day 10 of 13 for 205 yards and one interception, also adding 54 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
