Arizona has shifted its “Redline” mantra into another gear.
The Wildcats have partnered with Phoenix Raceway for an auto racing/college football collaboration in conjunction with that venue’s upcoming NASCAR event.
“This collaboration with Phoenix Raceway gives Arizona Athletics a dynamic platform to extend our reach across the state,” UA athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois said in a news release.
UA coach Brent Brennan participated in the NASCAR Racing Experience on Saturday at Phoenix Raceway, the first step in the collaboration that will continue Oct. 11 when Arizona hosts BYU for Family Weekend. A Phoenix Raceway pacecar, with Redline decals, will escort the UA team buses onto campus for the Wildcat Walk and an official NASCAR show car will be on display outside Arizona Stadium and
The partnership culminates Oct. 31-Nov. 2 when Phoenix Raceway hosts NASCAR Championship Weekend.
“Being part of the NASCAR Experience and then bringing that energy into Arizona Stadium is unforgettable, Brennan said in a news release. “It’s the kind of collaboration between iconic sports brands that gives our players, fans, and community something special to rally around.”
Arizona, off to its first 3-0 start since 2015, opens Big 12 Conference play next Saturday at No. 12 Iowa State before hosting Oklahoma State on Oct. 4.
