Foxton Granta are back at Lord's for their second national Village Cricket Cup final in two years.
A 34-year-old accountant is getting set to make a hat-trick of appearances at the home of cricket.
Weekend cricketer Adam Webster is due to open the batting for Cambridgeshire side Foxton Granta when they take on Stayley, who are based in Stalybridge, Cheshire, in the national Village Cup final at Lord's later.
Foxton Granta won the Voneus Village Cup in 2024, when they beat Gloucestershire side Dumbleton, and are making their second trip to north-west London in two years.
Mr Webster, who lives in Swavesey, Cambridgeshire, also captained Foxton when they were beaten by Woodhouse Grange, who are based in Sutton-Upon-Derwent, York, in the 2015 final.
Foxton Granta are one of the newest cricket clubs in Cambridgeshire.
The clubs, whose first team play in the Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Premier League Division 1, formed when Foxton Cricket Club and Cambridge Cricket Club merged in 2021.
Mr Webster said scores of supporters were expected to be at Lord's.
He said that most of the same players would be returning for the 2025 final - but said Foxton Granta's 2025 league form had not been as good as in 2024.
'Struggling'
"We've got pretty much the same side as last year," Webster explained.
"But we've actually been struggling a little bit this season on Saturdays in the league.
"We've finished ninth - last year we finished fourth and we'd think of ourselves as a top-four club."
He added: "We've done well in the cup on Sundays.
"I think we've actually found it a little bit difficult this year playing on Saturdays and Sundays."
Mr Webster said he hoped Foxton Granta's experience of playing on the world's most famous ground would count.
"Most of the side played last year and this will be my third time at Lord's," he said.
"It is exciting but I think other club players will have played there three times - because other clubs have got to the final more than once."
He added: "Stayley play in the Manchester league. We don't actually know much about them but I expect they'll be quite strong."
