Barcelona’s Gavi has been out of action in recent weeks after noticing discomfort in the knee he was operated on for an ACL tear, and the club immediately marked the situation as an emergency and sat him out to provide him the required rest.
The player, understandably reluctant to undergo another surgery or arthroscopy, opted for conservative management of his situation and has been working towards fitness once more.
While there has been improvement, as admitted by his entourage, it remains unclear if he is fit enough to play again or if an external intervention is necessary, and a decision on the same is expected early next week.

As relayed by Mundo Deportivo in a recent update, Barcelona have a clear plan in place to decide if Gavi is progressing well enough to continue on conservative methods or if surgery is needed.
First, the player will be subjected to competitive stress situations next week, including actions like jumping, slowing down, bending, and other agility exercises.
The tests will be conducted by Barcelona’s doctors, led by Dr Richard Pruna, in collaboration with a knee specialist, Dr Monllau.
During the aforementioned tests, a close eye will be maintained on Gavi’s pain and discomfort, and the conclusions made by the medical staff will be shared with his family and entourage.
A final decision will then be taken after discussion of the results and the best path forward. A return in the coming weeks, thus, looks highly unlikely, but Barcelona will hope he can come back stronger with the right treatment.
