According to a report from L’Équipe, Olympique de Marseille vs Paris Saint-Germain is set to go ahead as things stand despite adverse weather conditions in the South of France. Méteo France reports that there is an increased risk of thunderstorms in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
On Saturday, there were doubts over whether Ligue 1’s centrepiece fixture would go ahead. However, yesterday evening, the region’s governing body confirmed that the match would be permitted to proceed as planned, but if the weather worsened, the situation could change.
Security is also an issue with Le Classique
As is often the case with the most fiercely contested rivalry in France, security is also a major issue. Le Classique has seen serious issues with fan violence and ticketing in the past, which has prompted increased scrutiny over the fixture. Local authorities want fans to bring ID with them to the stadium to prevent opposition fans from being granted entry to the Stade Vélodrome.
