Post Game Media: Purdue 30 Notre Dame 56

See what coach Barry Odom and Purdue players had to say about the loss to the Fighting Irish.

After a game that featured a few homecomings, a lengthy weather delay, and a ton of offense, primarily by Notre Dame, see what coach Barry Odom and players Nitro Tuggle, Mani Powell, and Ryan Browne have to say:

Head Coach Barry Odom Post Game Media Conference:

Purdue Athletics don’t have the same access to post-game press conference road games and the media room for visitors is pretty crowded at Notre Dame Stadium. Take a look at the recorded video from our friend over at IndyStar, Nathan Baird.

Some highlights:

“I was proud of a number of things we did on offense tonight. I thought it continued to give us opportunities to stay in the game… Defensively, we didn’t play to the standard we needed to.”

“We’ve got to come up with a great gameplan. We’ve got a bye week that I think happens at a perfect time for our team. We’ll get bonus practices on Illinois and we’re into a 7-week stretch of conference play and we’ll get our team there.”

Coach Odom also confirmed that George Burhenn left the game with an arm injury though he did not give the extend of the injury. He also stated that redshirt freshman DL, TJ Lindsey, will be out the rest of the season with an ACL injury. Surgery is set this week.

Purdue Players Nitro Tuggle, Mani Powell, and Ryan Browne:

Take a look at Nathan Baird’s separate article on the players presser than includes video.

Nitro Tuggle, who is from nearby Goshen, Indiana, on the return home and scoring a touchdown:

“It was great being able to do that but I’m still kinda bummed because we didn’t win. It’s the only thing I can think about right now.”

Mani Powell on the defensive side of the ball:

“We didn’t go out and execute the job that we had to do. When you don’t do that, you’re disappointed in everything.”

“We felt like we weren’t on the same page a lot of the times.”

Ryan Browne on his touchdown reception from Devin Mockobee:

“Mock threw a perfect ball. I don’t think he threw a ball that good all week in practice.”

“It’s really encouraging, as a player, to know that your coach will take risks like that and have the belief in you that, either way that it goes, he believes in us.”
