Mamelodi Sundowns are set to complete the signing of Portuguese attacking midfielder Nuno Santos from Vitoria Guimaraes SC according to reports in Portugal.
The two parties have reached a club-to-club agreement and the player’s personal terms are said to have been agreed as well.
Downs are believed to have secured the player’s services on a deal worth in the region of € 1 million (R20 million).
Santos is expected to touchdown in South Africa ahead of a routine medical check, with the PSL transfer window set to slam shut on Monday, 22 September at midnight.
The 26-year-old, who primarily operates as a no.10 but can also turn out as an inverted winger, made 51 appearances across all competitions last season and scored six goals with 11 assists.
Santos is expected to fill the void left by Lucas Ribeiro Costa, who terminated his contract at Chloorkop, citing the Diarra Law.
Masadandwana’s coup of the former Portugal youth international comes after they failed in their pursuit of Brazilian star Matheusinho, who is on loan at SC Recife in the Brazilian topflight.
Sundowns’ two bids for the player were rejected, with the initial one thought to be worth € 1.5 million (R30 million), while the last bid was € 1.7 million (R35 million).
