The New York Jets are down in Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers in NFL Week 3.
Aaron Glenn is still looking for his first win as the head coach of the Jets after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in his debut and the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. There have been some encouraging signs, but the team suffered a serious setback when starting quarterback Justin Fields went down with an injury last week.
Now, the Jets are rolling with veteran Tyrod Taylor at quarterback. Against the Bucs, Glenn was seen visibly heated at rookie receiver Arian Smith.
Why was Aaron Glenn yelling at Arian Smith?
The Jets were driving down the field on their first possession on Sunday. Taylor had a couple nice scrambles that kept drives alive and also had some nice throws.
However, the Jets were faced with a 2nd & 1 at the Tampa Bay 17, and Smith was called for an illegal formation penalty. This moved the team back five yards and ultimately resulted in the drive stalling and the Jets having to settle for a field goal.
When you're a winless team and an underdog in Week 3, it's understandable for the coach to get so upset at his rookie. The Jets need all the points they can get, and that penalty killed a promising drive.
With about three minutes to go in the first, the Jets are still holding on to a 3-0 lead. However, if the Jets are unable to pull out a win, that early penalty will definitely be looked at.
