Indiana football opens as a 6.5-point favorite at Iowa

The Hoosiers open as the favorites on the road against the Hawkeyes in Iowa City.

Indiana football has opened up as a 6.5 point favorite on the road against Iowa in Iowa City, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Hoosiers are coming off of a dominant 63-10 win over Illinois on Saturday, a game that kicked with them having similar odds. The Hawkeyes are coming off of a 38-28 road win over Rutgers this past Friday.

Indiana stormed through its non-conference slate of Old Dominion, Kennesaw State and Indiana State to open Big Ten play at 3-0. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza has looked masterful leading the Hoosier offense, completing 76.8% of his passing attempts for 14 touchdowns. Indiana will be without running back Lee Beebe Jr. for the remainder of the season, but still managed to put up over 300 yards on the ground against the Fighting Illini on Saturday.

Iowa defeated Albany and UMass at home but narrowly fell 16-13 on the road in the CyHawk matchup against Iowa State, another highly ranked team. Quarterback Mark Gronowski, who transferred to Iowa from South Dakota State this past offseason, has completed 60.5% of his passes with three touchdowns and a single interception.

Indiana is set to face Iowa on Saturday, September 27th, at 3:30 p.m. ET at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.
