Marcus Rashford was left out of Barcelona's starting XI against Getafe after arriving late for a pre-match meeting.

The England international, on loan from Manchester United, was tipped to start on Sunday evening after his standout performance in midweek.

Rashford scored twice in the Champions League to underline his quality and appeared to be hitting form at just the right time.

But despite those goals, the 27-year-old paid the price for turning up late and began the game on the bench instead.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Rashford was only "a little late" for the team's morning meeting.

Even so, Flick was quick to make an example of him, reinforcing the standards he has set since taking charge at Camp Nou.

This is far from the first time that a Barcelona player has found himself punished under the German coach.

Earlier this season, goalkeeper Inaki Pena and defender Jules Kounde were both left out of the line-up for similar reasons, while winger Raphinha was benched for arriving late ahead of the clash with Valencia.

The Brazilian responded in the best possible way, coming on as a substitute and scoring twice to help seal victory.

59-year-old Flick has built a reputation as a meticulous and demanding coach, and his insistence on discipline is already leaving its mark on the Barcelona squad.

Barcelona went on to win the game 3-0 with Rashford coming on as a substitute for the second half.
