The Kansas City Chiefs won't have the services of wide receiver Xavier Worthy once again in the Week 3 game against the New York Giants on Monday night.
Worthy suffered a fully torn labrum in the Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers after he collided with teammate and tight end, Travis Kelce.
Worthy exited the game early and did not return and was ruled out for the Week 2 game against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Week 3 contest versus New York.
While Worthy is expected to return this season, it remains unclear exactly when that will be. Here's what we know about the Chiefs wideout.
When is Xavier Worthy returning from injury?
Worthy was able to practice on a limited basis ahead of the game against the Giants and has now turned in five limited practices in a row dating back to the week prior.
That suggests that Worthy could return any week now, although the Chiefs were hopeful he would suit up this week before he was ruled out.
When he does return, Worthy will be playing with a harness, but considering the fact that he's not 100%, the risk of aggravation of the injury will be high. It may also impact his ability to catch, block and take hits.
Worthy's absence is yet another blow to Kansas City's receiving corps., which is also without Rashee Rice, who is suspended for six games.
The goods news is, the Chiefs will have rookie Jalen Royals, who will provide some much-needed support to Kansas City's lackluster group of pass-catchers.
Until Worthy and Rice return, Marquise Brown will continue to serve as the Chiefs' No. 1 wide receiver. Tyquan Thornton has been Kansas City's No. 2 wide receiver, but we'll see if either Royals or JuJu Smith-Schuster can close the gap in Week 3.
