CeeDee Lamb injury update: Cowboys WR, Jerry Jones offer good news for Week 4 status originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Dallas Cowboys and their fans were holding their collective breath when wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffered an injury early on in the ugly Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Lamb had a Bears defender land on his ankle on the Cowboys' second offensive series of the game. Lamb exited briefly, returned to the field, and then exited for good after a few plays when it was clear he wasn't healthy enough to go.
It was a brutal blow for the Cowboys to lose their No. 1 wide receiver, but the good news is, Lamb has avoided something significant.
CeeDee Lamb injury update
When asked about his injury after the game, Lamb said he "absolutely" believes he'll be able to play in Week 4, Jon Machota of The Athletic reported.
Cowboys owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, echoed Lamb's sentiment about being able to play next week, Nick Harris of the Forth Worth Star-Telegram added.
With Lamb out, the Cowboys saw multiple players step up, although it wasn't good enough to overcome the putrid defensive performance.
Jake Ferguson led the way with 13 catches for 82 yards, and George Pickens added five catches for 68 yards and a touchdown, although he had a crucial drop in the fourth quarter that led to a game-sealing interception for Chicago.
Pickens had a meltdown on the sideline as a result, and he chose not to talk to the media after the game, which is pretty typical for the former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout.
Lamb's status will be one to monitor throughout the week. The Cowboys draw a very tough matchup against the Green Bay Packers on "Sunday Night Football" next week and will need all hands on deck to beat Micah Parsons and Co.
