TAMPA — Bucs receiver Mike Evans suffered a hamstring strain in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 29-27 win over the Jets and did not return.
Evans had four catches for 33 yards, including 5-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.
“So far, a hamstring tweak,” head coach Todd Bowles said after the game. ”I’ve not gone in to see the final details yet."
Evans has had a history of hamstring injuries, missing three games last season. The Bucs lost all three.
It’s not an ideal time for Evans to go down with the Bucs hosting the defending Super Bowl champion and undefeated Eagles next Sunday.
While the Bucs got another good game from rookie Emeka Egbuka, who led the team with six catches for 85 yards, they already were without receiver Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan. The latter is not expected to return until after the Week 9 bye.
Godwin and left tackle Tristan Wirfs, however, have been practicing and possibly could be in play against Philadelphia.
