The Jets came so close to a win.
Jets loss to Buccaneers 'good one to learn from' for Tyrod Taylor originally appeared on The Sporting News
The New York Jets came so close to stealing a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but a last-second Chase McLaughlin field goal saw Aaron Glenn's team lose 29-27 at Raymond James Stadium.
After a poor first half that saw the Jets down 20-6, a stirring second-half comeback ensued, with Tyrod Taylor, who was filling in for Justin Fields, who is in concussion protocol, helping score 21 points in the fourth quarter as the Jets took the lead.
However, they left too much time on the clock for Baker Mayfield as he marched his team into field goal range, and as they say, the rest is history.
But what is the message from the locker room after the stunning comeback fell agonizingly short?
“Stay together, believe, which AG [Glenn] told us at halftime, believe and don't lose confidence,” Taylor said. “In the second half, we showed that. Obviously, we didn't come out with the win, but when you look at that second half, it was a team out there that believed in this game, believed in one another, and we never lacked confidence.
“It didn't go our way at the end. We fell a little short. In this league, you have to learn from your losses, and this is a good one to learn from.”

Jets show Aaron Glenn fighting spirit in loss
The Jets could have easily mailed in the last quarter, down 23-6, but Aaron Glenn rallied his troops, as he often did in Detroit, and New York came out breathing fire, scoring touchdowns on their first two drives, before a blocked field goal attempt was then returned for a touchdown to give them a one-point lead.
While there are no moral victories in the NFL, this sure feels like one, although no one inside that locker room will want to use that title.
The Jets' poor first half needed a monster fourth quarter to overcome it, and while they did hit the lead, albeit briefly, as Taylor said, there will be plenty to learn from in this loss.
So close, yet so far.
