What happened to Andrew Thomas? Giants left tackle pulled from Week 3 game vs. Chiefs originally appeared on The Sporting News

The New York Giants have a bit of a mystery with left tackle Andrew Thomas in the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Thomas had been sidelined since suffering a foot injury last season and was making his return to the field on Sunday night. Thomas started and was playing well in the first half.

But he was then pulled late in the second quarter and was replaced by rookie Marcus MBow — and the drop-off has been very clear.

So, is Thomas injured? Are the Giants just managing his reps?

Here's what we know.

Why is Andrew Thomas not in the game?

The Giants have not provided an injury update and Thomas is on the sideline, so it appears New York is just managing his reps.

"Andrew Thomas standing away from the rest of the offense on the sideline without his helmet as the Chiefs line up for this kickoff," The Athletic's Dan Duggan wrote.

It does make sense to manage Thomas' reps, as much as it hurts the offensive line. After all, the Giants are thinking big picture and don't want to push Thomas too much in his first game back.

We'll continue to keep an eye out for any semblance of an update, but load management appears to be the cause of Thomas' absence.
