Jamie Carragher: My big problem with Chelsea is not to do with Enzo Maresca

Football pundit Jamie Carragher has been explaining his big issue with Chelsea, and it’s not to do with Enzo Maresca.

The former Liverpool star has been explaining his critical views on Chelsea of late and going a bit more into his reasoning as to why he thinks the club are not doing well at the moment, and he’s not putting any blame on manager Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea have been on the receiving end of more criticism this weekend as they lost 2-1 against a struggling Manchester United team and facing their second defeat in a row this season in all competitions. Former England striker Wayne Rooney labelled some decisions made by Maresca as strange after the game.

Robert Sanchez got sent off for Chelsea after just five minutes and of course, this then caused all sorts of problems for The Blues. Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has highlighted where it all went wrong for Sanchez on the night.

Carragher’s big problem with Chelsea

Chelsea fans will say that Carragher has a clear vendetta against their club and is always negative about them. Many will believe that he actually just hates Chelsea.

But he’s tried to explain again why he doesn’t rate what the new ownership have done so far.

The full video of his words have been shared on X this week, but he said:

“I think some Chelsea fans think I’ve got it in for them but I think the manager has actually done a brilliant job since he’s come In.

“My criticism with Chelsea is that the 3 and a half years the owners have been there and they have that team, we’re sat here saying they’ve got no chance for the league and Chelsea fans know that too.

“My big problem with Chelsea is not to do with Maresca as such, it’s the 3 and a half years with the money that’s been spent and you turn up at Old Trafford with that goalkeeper and those centre backs.”
