Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has questioned why Chelsea are still so short in one key area on the pitch despite spending so much.
We all know the story here, and pundits like Neville and Jamie Carragher will always be so quick to jump on Chelsea’s backs especially when the chips are down.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea thinking about selling new signing who’s not even arrived yet in favour of another new arrival!!
Chelsea have just lost the last two games in a row and now the knives are out once again. I don’t think it’s necessarily wrong for Neville to be asking this question though, because Chelsea have spent a lot of money rebuilding the squad yet there are still clear question marks over areas of the squad. For me, in particular the goalkeeper, centre backs, and attackers.
Jamie Carragher was questioning the goalkeeper and the defence in some comments he made earlier and to be honest, for once in my life I actually agree with him.
But Neville is questioning the other end of the pitch. They both hate Chelsea we know this, but I actually think they both have some weight to their opinions on this at least.
Neville on Chelsea
Gary Neville speaks on Sky Sports.
In quotes picked up by SPTC today, Neville said:
“I have to say, they look well short for me, still, up front. For all the money that they’ve spent, and I know they’ve got good players, he’s got [Liam] Delap and Joao Pedro, who’s a good player. But they’re still not at that level, where you think that they’re nothing like [Erling] Haaland, or [Alexander] Isak or even [Hugo] Ekitike for that matter.”
I think Ekitike is a stretch, but he’s correct on the other two. Pedro is also for me more of a 10 than a striker.
Rooney also criticising
Wayne Rooney’s criticism was aimed more at Enzo Maresca than anything else, but he’s also been questioning some decisions from this weekend’s defeat to Manchester United.
