Women's refereeing: FIFA and the FAF launch a training course in Oran

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF), in collaboration with FIFA, inaugurated on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Miloud-Hadefi Sports Complex in Oran, a training session dedicated exclusively to female referees. This initiative, part of the international "FIFA MA Course" program, will continue until September 25 and is designed to promote and professionalize women's refereeing in Algeria.

The training, organized jointly with the National Refereeing Directorate (DNA), focuses on three key areas: technical, physical, and mental preparation—essential to meet the demands of modern football. It is held at the Mediterranean Village, specially equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual tools and set up according to international standards, thus providing participants with the best possible learning environment.

Supervised by two FIFA experts—the Ivorian Désiré Doué Noumandiez, technical instructor, and Algerian Nassereddine Cherifi, physical instructor—this session aims to impart fundamental skills to referees aspiring to reach the highest levels. The opening ceremony, chaired by Mohamed Lamine Benaïssa, head of training and development at the DNA, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the role of women in refereeing and preparing a new generation capable of representing Algeria at major competitions.

Beyond its academic aspect, this seminar serves as a space for exchange and improvement, fostering the acquisition of international standards and the sharing of experiences among participants and trainers. For the FAF, this is another step forward in its overall strategy to sustainably develop refereeing by placing women at the heart of this evolution. The ambition is clear: to ensure a stronger presence of Algerian refereeing on the continental and global stage through targeted, ongoing training that meets elite standards.
