Teofimo Lopez would rather see a fight with Shakur Stevenson happen sooner than later.
With Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson already kicking off the pre-promotional tour of a fight that’s expected to be formally announced just about any day now, Lopez went online and essentially confirmed that the pair are largely just waiting to nail now a fight date.
“Heading back to Vegas,” Lopez said. “I’m excited. It was great while being over here (in Honduras), a good time, but other than that, yeah, can’t wait to kick Shakur’s ass. Damn right. So these plane rides can get longer and bigger, pause.
“We should be announcing the fight very soon, find more details this week, crossed fingers. They say January, some say February. Like whoa, whoa, whoa. Let’s make the fight happen in January, why are we waiting so long? We should already fight by end of this year but, you know, people got plans. So we’ll see what happens.”
Shakur Stevenson, for his part, also recently expressed his own personal interest in seeing this fight come to fruition, as he says both he and Lopez are chasing greatness.
