Whether it’s Geno or Russ, Bobby is going to get his stats.
In a matter of three weeks, Washington Commanders linebacker and Seattle Seahawks legend Bobby Wagner got to play against former Seahawks starting quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Geno Smith. Both were comfortable wins for the Commanders, and both QBs were greeted in the backfield by No. 54 himself.
On opening day against the New York Giants, Wagner didn’t officially sack Wilson, but a Wilson interception was nullified by a roughing the passer penalty. In Washington’s blowout win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Wagner sacked Geno twice, as Smith was harassed all game and sacked five times behind an offensive line coached by Brennan Carroll.
Of course, there’s no more famous Bobby Wagner play against an old foe than when he picked off Wilson on Christmas Day back in 2022, drawing this legendary piece of play-by-play by Patrick Starr.
Earlier in the 2022 season, Wagner sacked and intercept Smith in the Seahawks’ 27-23 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Inglewood.
For now, Wilson and Wagner are scheduled to meet again in Week 15, but it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Russ is still the Giants starter by then.
