Glamorgan opening batters Eddie Byrom and Will Smale sign contract extensions for a further two seasons.
Glamorgan opening batters Eddie Byrom and Will Smale have signed contract extensions for a further two seasons.
Byrom, 28, featured in every game of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup this season, top-scoring with 94 at Gloucestershire followed by some powerful knocks up the order.
Smale, 24, has had yet another positive white-ball year, as the right-handed batter played in all Glamorgan's Vitality Blast and Metro Bank One-Day Cup games.
Transitioning to the middle order for the 50-over competition, Newport-born Smale had a successful campaign batting at number five - scoring a century at Surrey and a crucial 83 not out in the win over Leicestershire Foxes.
He also kept wicket after Alex Horton's injury at the halfway point of the One-Day Cup, as he did throughout the winning campaign the season before.
Glamorgan director of cricket Mark Wallace said: "Will has shown over the last few years his ability to influence games in white-ball cricket with the bat and behind the stumps.
"He scored an excellent maiden hundred in the 50-over competition this year and we look forward to him pushing for a place in the first team across all formats in the coming years.
"Eddie has been a consistent performer since joining from Somerset and, though he hasn't played as much first-team cricket as he would have like this season, adds a huge amount to our batting unit."
