Bayern Munich have been in relentless form in the 2025/26 season and that is mainly due to the fact that Harry Kane has been in sensational goalscoring form.

He has been scoring goals for fun as he has raced to 13 goals this season from only seven games with eight goals coming in the four Bundesliga fixture.

Kane recently scored a fantastic hattrick in Bayern Munich's 4-1 win over Hoffenheim away from home in Sinsheim.

The Englishman hasn't stopped at just piling up goals, he has played a role of a playmaker whenever required and has also dropped deep supported the midfielders and the defense line to maintain the shape of the system carefully orchestrated by Vincent Kompany.

Former Bayern Munich star and pundit, Lothar Matthaus is highly impressed with the 32-year-old's performances this season and wants him to end his career in Germany.

"He's never been better, and he's made an even bigger impact here," Matthaus wrote in his column for Sky Sports Germany

"I don't think Shearer's record is a motivation. He's done his job in the Premier League, and therefore he should end his career at Bayern. If he wants to earn some money afterward, he can move to Saudi Arabia. But I think Kane still has a few good years ahead of him at the very highest level."

What did Matthaus say about Kane's Ballon d'Or prospects?

Kane has been in destructive form for Bayern Munich ever since moving to the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

The 32-year-old marksman has already piled up 98 goals in 103 appearances for the German champions.

Interestingly, Kane is eyeing a record to score fastest 100 goals for a club in Europe's top five leagues - a record that is owned by Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) and Erling Haaland (Man City) as they both achieved it in 105 appearances.

If Kane manages to score a brace against Werder Bremen, he will set a new goalscoring record.

Considering his relentless form and impact on the pitch, Matthaus believes that the 32-year-old could win a Ballon d'Or in the near future.

"Perhaps Harry Kane would be one of those, too, if Bayern Munich manage to get further in the Champions League than they have recently," he wrote about Kane's Ballon d'Or chances.

"His performances for Bayern are still fantastic. Especially because of his many goals, of course, but what impresses me most are the assists he provides. These are assists from a playmaker or pacesetter. That's what makes Bayern so difficult to predict at the moment."

Overall, it would be interesting to see Kane flourish in Bavaria for a prolonged period but reports in England suggest that there's strong possibility of him returning to the Premier League next summer.
