The 2025 Kentucky high school football season is here heading into the sixth week and there’s already been a slew of games that impact the Top 25 rankings.

The Trinity Shamrocks hold firm as the state’s No. 1 team after cruising by Louisville Male last week. Who else makes the cut in this week’s Kentucky high school football rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Kentucky high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Sep. 22.

1. Trinity Shamrocks

The Trinity Shamrocks (4-1) notched one of its best victories of the season to date, a 46-0 romp of Louisville Male, one of the country’s winningest high school football programs ever.

The Shamrocks will aim for rare three-peat in 2025, which they have opened the season with some dominant performances, including a 63-0 rout of Pleasure Ridge Park and a 37-0 blowout of Frederick Douglass.

They will need players like quarterback Zane Johnson, running back Jamaurion Berry and wide receiver Sekou Kamara to fuel what is one of Kentucky’s most potent offenses. Next test for the Shamrocks upcoming is a meeting with St. Xavier (3-1) figures to be the Game of the Week in the state of Kentucky.

2. Christian Academy of Louisville Centurions

The Centurions (5-0) has had somewhat of an easy go of it so far this season, with the latest rout being a 55-0 defeat of Central Hardin.

Christian Academy of Louisville started the season off winning three straight blowout victories, including wins over Lexington Christian Academy and Owensboro, respectively. They added another impressive win in Week 4 with a thrilling 34-27 decision over Ryle.

Christian Academy of Louisville has been one of the more dominant teams in the state as they feature a loaded roster, led by four-star sophomore defensive lineman Kellan Hall. The Centurions also have talents like senior defensive back Stone Perkins (Ball State commit) and linebacker Chapman Russell on defense.

This week the Centurions hit the road and take on De Sales (2-3).

3. St. Xavier Tigers

St. Xavier (3-1) looked solid right out of the gates to kickoff the 2025 season with a 38-7 win over Owensboro. The Tigers have since then had a bye week before pulling off dominant victories over Bowling Green and Louisville Male, respectively.

Despite a 26-24 loss to Elder last week, the Tigers don’t go anywhere in this week’s rankings, staying right at the third spot.

The Tigers have received strong production out of running back Jordan Senior and wide receiver Jake Washington so far this season. Next up for the Tigers is a highly anticipated tilt against No. 1 Trinity this week.

4. Highlands Bluebirds

Highlands (4-1) bounced back from a narrow 21-20 loss to Boyle County a couple weeks ago,defeating a very good Ryle club to remain in the Top 5 of the latest Kentucky high school football rankings this week.

Last time the Bluebirds’ took the field before the start of the 2025 campaign was a 61-23 loss to Cooper in the Kentucky high school football KHSAA Class 5A semifinals. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak and ended their quest for a state championship, which they last won in 2014.

Through five games, Highlands’ offense has been humming under the controls of quarterback Mario Litmer, who has completed 70 of 113 passes for 814 yards and six touchdowns. The Bluebirds next test is this Friday night versus Harrison County.

5. Johnson Central Golden Eagles

The newest team in the Bluegrass State to make their way into the Top 5 of the rankings is Johnson County after a 50-30 win over Pulaski County last week.

What has been on fire for the Golden Eagles in their offense as the unit is averaging a sizzling 38.6 points per contest. Leading the way on via the ground game for Johnson Central is senior running back Logan Music, who has been the bellcow for the Golden Eagles’ offense.

Johnson Central looks to remain undefeated this week when they take on Boyd County.
