Alexander did play in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills despite a nagging knee injury.
The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec wrote this on X on Sunday in Week 2 after Alexander's first inactive ruling:
"Plenty of signs this week that was in the offing. Harbaugh talked about needing to get Alexander 'right.' DC Zach Orr talked about his confidence in Alexander being ready when he got his next (opportunity)."
It remains to be seen when Alexander will be back.
