High School Roundup: Bloom-Carroll volleyball remains perfect, improves to 16-0 after blanking Bexley in nonconference action.
VOLLEYBALL
Bloom-Carroll 3, Bexley 0: The Bulldogs cruised past the Lions 25-14, 25-13, 25-11 in nonconference action and improved to 16-0. Sylvia Haughn had 18 kills and four aces, Josie Burr had nine kills, Renee Smith finished with 31 assists, and Sienna Hogue added 14 digs.
Bloom-Carroll 3, DeSales 2: The Bulldogs overcame a two-match deficit and came back to win 26-28, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 16-14 against the Stallions in nonconference action. Sylvia Haughn had 22 kills, 13 digs, three blocks and two aces. Kylee Reiser had 12 kills, Renee Smith finished with 45 assists, Sienna Hogue had 24 digs, and Josie Burr added six blocks and five kills.
Teays Valley 3, Lancaster 0: The Lady Gales fell short 25-16, 25-21, 25-23 against the Vikings in OCC-Buckeye Division action. Hailey Rings had six kills and two blocks. Ally Dick, Hannah Smith, and Zoey Vangundy chipped in with four kills each. Zoe Deleon had eight digs, Caralina Crowell had six digs, and Bella McKnight added 23 assists and eight digs.
The Gales fell to Newark 25-16, 25-13, 25-14. Kileigh Rohr had eight kills and seven digs and one block, Zoey VanGundy had seven Kills, Rylee Johnson had 8 digs, and Zoe Deleon added six.
SOCCER
Logan 2, Lancaster 1: Rebecca Woody scored the Gales' lone goal and was assisted by Molly Stedman in Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division action. Grace Hampson finished with nine saves for the Gales (5-3-1, 2-2).
Bloom-Carroll 9, Wellington 0: Seven different players scored for the Bulldogs, led by Stella Haughn, who had three goals. Lauryn Pinkerton had one save. In another nonconference game, the Bulldogs tied DeSales 1-1. Mackenzie Haslett scored for B-C, and Pinkerton had seven saves.
CROSS COUNTRY
Liberty Union: The Lions competed at the Patty Forgey Invitational at the University of Rio Grande on Sept. 20. The girls team placed sixth out of 18 teams and was led by Rachel Sponseller (13th, 20:56). She was followed by Elizabeth Conn (41st, 22:23), Taylor Jones (55th, 23:08), Caroline Endsley (56th, 23:08), Emily Shultz (60th, 23:15), Lily Endsley (86th, 24:26), and Alaina Brate (126th, 26:53).
The boys' team placed 18th out of 33 teams and was led by William McCreery (21st, 17:03). He was followed by Charlie Sponseller (72nd, 18:52), Micah Fisher (143rd, 20:31), Silas Kohler (150th, 20:37), Hunter Maddux (161st, 20:48), and Levi Hendershot (227th, 22:49).
Fisher Catholic: The Irish boys and girls participated in the Midwest Catholic Cross Country Meet at Cedarville University. The Irish Boys placed 8th out of 19 Teams, scoring 237 points, while Cincinnati Moeller won the Meet, scoring 51 points.
Leading the Irish were senior Landen Funk, who placed 21st with a time of 17:18.5, and sophomore Corbin Stobart, who placed 26th with a time of 17:23.3. Other Irish runners were Senior Reece Hagy, 39th, 17:42.5, and freshman Gordon Crabtree- 114th-19: 13..8, Junior Noah Krile-155th-19:56.6 and Junior Nicholas Ristau-194th-20:55.2. Leading the Irish girls was Junior Eve Ohwoforworaye- 24th-22:42.2 and Junior Mary Grace Crabtree-25th-22:43.7.
GOLF
Lancaster boys: The Gales were able to compete in the prestigious Upper Arlington Invitational held at the legendary Scioto Country Club. The Gales shot a 357, which was good for 6th out of 6. The Gales were led by Gabe Betts, who shot an 80. Jacob Miller shot 85, Ben Richardson 93, Bryson Branham 99, and Jackson Cluse 100
Lancaster girls: The Lady Gales fell just short in a 225-228 loss against Canal Winchester at Valley View. Molly Stedman shot 52 and was the medalist. She was followed by Ava Zeiders (55), Brennan Salapek (59), Mya Gustafson (62), Maddie Barnes (63), and Annabelle Walter (65).
Fairfield Union: The Falcons played in their final Mid-State League tournament at Denison Golf Course, firing a 342 and finishing in 3rd place. Low rounds for the Falcons were Bryce Lepi and Caden Featheroff with 81, Ian McDaniels 89, Eli Wolfe and Gabe Boyer 91, and Will Wolfe 97. The team finished the regular season in 2nd place in the MSL-Buckeye Division.
Bloom-Carroll girls: The Bulldogs placed first in the final MSL match at Westchester Golf Club. B-C finished at 339 and was followed by Circleville, 407, Logan Elm, 410, Fairfield Union, 411, and Wellington, 445. B-C Scores: Niley Mathias 87, Peyton Courtright 93, Ava Phillips 107, and Kallie Kosch 112. The Bulldogs finished tied with Logan Elm for 2nd Place honors in the MSL with a record of 16-5. Circleville won the League with a record of 17-4.
