Ballon d’Or results
Following her heroics for the Women’s Euro-winning English national team, as well as Chelsea of course last season, Hannah Hampton was awarded the Yashin Trophy as the best performing goalkeeper in women’s football at last night’s Ballon d’Or ceremony! Amazing!
Incidentally, finishing second in the voting was none other than former Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, who also excelled at last summer’s tournament.
Hampton finished tenth in the Ballon d’Or voting, just behind Lucy Bronze, who got ninth. The award itself was won by Aitana Bonmatí for the third year running. Her teammate, Vicky López won the Kopa Trophy, with Wieke Kaptein finishing third in that category.
Meanwhile, Sonia Bompastor finished as runner-up to England manager Sarina Wiegman for Women’s Coach of the Year.
On the men’s side, Enzo Maresca got fourth in the managers voting (PSG’s Luis Enrique got the top spot) while Cole Palmer finished eighth in the main Ballon d’Or race (Ousmane Dembélé winning it) and Estêvão got fourth in the Kopa Trophy rankings (Lamine Yamal winning it).
Congrats, all!
