In a season where so many things have gone wrong, it’s only fitting the Braves have won 10 games in a row as we near the finish line. Atlanta reached its 10th straight win on Tuesday night, beating the Washington Nationals, 3-2, at Truist Park.
Four games remain in the 2025 season.
Hurston Waldrep made the start for the Braves and continued to throw well in what was likely his final start of 2025. The rookie righty worked six innings of one-run ball, striking out five while allowing five hits and four walks. If this is the end for Waldrep this season, he ends with a stellar 2.88 ERA since being called up on August 1. He has certainly given the club something to think about with the rotation in 2026.
The Nationals scored their lone run in the third inning as CJ Abrams singled in a runner, but that was the lone run they would push across.
Michael Harris, who has experienced one of the more bizarre seasons in recent memory, launched two homers on Tuesday. The first came in the fifth inning to tie it at 1-1, and he did it again in the seventh to extend Atlanta’s lead to 3-1. As Mark Bowman pointed out, Harris went 94 plate appearances before he homered in back-to-back this evening.
Ronald Acuña Jr. appears to have put his mini slump all the way behind him after homering again on Tuesday, his 20th of the season. In typical Acuña fashion, he launched the ball the opposite way to give the Braves the lead in the sixth.
Reliever Joel Payamps made his Braves debut with a clean seventh inning, striking out two in the process. Dylan Lee tossed the eighth and gave up a homer to James Wood, but that was it. Raisel Iglesias, who has been fantastic since the infamous blowup against the Diamondbacks in early June, closed things out in the ninth.
The series wraps up on Wednesday afternoon with Bryce Elder set to face lefty Andrew Alvarez, who has thrown the ball well since making his big league debut on September 1. First pitch is an early one at 12:15 p.m. ET.
