Guernsey FC lost for the second time this season as they went down 2-1 at Lingfield in the Southern Combination Premier Division.
The hosts had been winless going into the game but took their chances as the Green Lions slipped to eighth place in the table.
Guernsey went close through Frazer Maginnis before Reese Cartwright put the Lingfield ahead with their first chance of the game in the 21st minute.
Guernsey should have equalised 12 minutes later but record goalscorer Ross Allen had a penalty saved after Charlton Gauvain had been fouled in the box.
But the island side did level six minutes after the break when Maginnis scored his first goal for the club as he pounced after Brandon Wallace’s shot was saved.
Sam Murray had two good chances to put Guernsey ahead soon after, but it was the hosts who got the winner when Jeff Duah-Kessie found the net with 14 minutes left after the Green Lions failed to clear a free kick.
The loss sees Guernsey on 12 points from their first six matches after relegation from the Isthmian League last season.
