Ohio State defensive back Lorenzo Styles Jr. is expected to return for this week’s game at Washington.
“Ready to go and had a great week of practice," coach Ryan Day said on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
Styles missed most of the second half of the Buckeyes’ win over Ohio on Sept. 13 after he went down with an apparent upper-body injury.
Assuming a larger role this year after the loss of multiple starters in the secondary, Styles has started all three games as nickelback, a role held last season by Jordan Hancock.
When he was sidelined against the Bobcats two weeks ago, the Buckeyes reconfigured the back end of the defense, moving cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr. to the nickel for Styles with freshman Devin Sanchez replacing him at one of the outside cornerback spots.
Styles, who is also involved on special teams, has 10 tackles, including one for a loss. Before he was hurt against Ohio, he was beaten in coverage for a 67-yard touchdown.
Styles is a native of Pickerington and the older brother of starting middle linebacker Sonny Styles.
