Well. I don’t have many words for the run that this team has been on. I’m trying not to think too much about it and instead just trying to enjoy it while it lasts. 17 of 18, 12.5 game lead erased in a month (a month that’s not even over). 1 game lead in the […]
Well.
I don’t have many words for the run that this team has been on. I’m trying not to think too much about it and instead just trying to enjoy it while it lasts. 17 of 18, 12.5 game lead erased in a month (a month that’s not even over). 1 game lead in the division. Magic number of 3.
Anyway. Bibee gave up an early run in the 3rd on a Meadows sac fly. He got hit pretty hard early on, but settled in to produce 6 innings of 1-run ball. Really fun to watch him finish the 6th inning.
Valera… rose to the occasion. Smacked a Flaherty knuckle-curve to center field. Unbelievably huge hit. Answered back right after the Tigers took the lead, completely swung the momentum.
His journey to the majors has been fairytale-esque. His career, so far, in the majors has been even more storybook. So awesome to watch him come through for this team. I mean, just look at his reaction running around the bases.
Kwan added on to the lead in the 5th with an RBI single the other way.
And then, of course, Jose came through. Tacked on two *massive* insurance runs in the 7th off Vest. So awesome to see him come through, too.
Herrin pitched 2/3 of a scoreless inning (albeit shakily), Gaddis closed out the 7th. Junis pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, and Cade finished off the Tigers. Really, really great performance across the board. Tigers made some mistakes and the Guardians capitalized.
By the way, if you haven’t gone to any of the last two games, go tomorrow. The environment is electric. It’s as close to postseason baseball as you’ll get without the calendar flipping to October. Show out for the Guardians.
