Will the young quarterback play for the Nittany Lions one day?
Son of Giants GM Joe Schoen set to visit Penn State during white out originally appeared on The Sporting News
Joe Schoen is not only the general manager of the New York Giants, but he's the father of Class of 2028 quarterback Carson Schoen. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound signal-caller plays for Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey, and has helped his team achieve a 3-0 record so far this season.
The younger Schoen has 304 passing yards with five touchdowns and one interception ahead of Friday's game against Bergen Catholic. The sophomore has already made more appearances than he did last season, when he played just two games.
Schoen hasn't officially visited any colleges, via 247Sports. However, he announced via social media on Tuesday that he plans to attend the main event of Saturday's NCAA football slate.
"I will be in Happy Valley this weekend for the whiteout! Can't wait to be back down there and see my guys Chris Mahon, Danny O'Brien, [and] Trace McSorley," he said.
The "whiteout" refers to No. 3 Penn State's home matchup with No. 6 Oregon on Saturday night. The Nittany Lions fans who attend will carry out their annual tradition of wearing all white to a game once a year.
Additionally, Schoen will connect with Penn State brass. Mahon is the program's recruiting coordinator, while O'Brien is the quarterbacks coach and McSorley is his assistant.
Schoen is one of over 100 recruits expected to attend the game, via 247.

Penn State Must Continue Elite Defense
Schoen will get to observe Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar, who has 57 touchdowns against just 11 interceptions in his career to go with 6,928 yards (7.4 yards per attempt) on a 63.1 completion percentage. The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder guided the squad to the CFP Semifinal last season.
On the other hand, Penn State's defense holds the keys to winning Saturday's matchup. The Ducks are among the nation's leaders with 31 plays of at least 20 yards through four games, while the Nittany Lions have allowed just two of those plays through three contests. If they can stop Oregon's high-flying offensive attack, then they should secure the victory.
Saturday's game will start at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
