On Wednesday, FC Barcelona sporting director Deco, accompanied by agent Andy Bara, travelled to Croatia to watch the UEFA Europa League group stage match between Dinamo Zagreb and Fenerbahce.
As reported earlier today, he paid close attention to Portuguese winger Cardoso Varela, who only featured in stoppage time.
Deco also met Brazilian teenage midfielder Rafael Belinho, the other major prospect at the Croatian club.
Belinho himself made this public by posting a photograph with Deco and his father on his Instagram profile.
Barcelona’s interest in Varela is not new. They have been monitoring him since before his move to Zagreb from FC Porto. And it appears that Belinho, too, has caught their attention.

Both youngsters are attracted to the idea of joining Barcelona and are not shy about showing it publicly.

Last August, Belinho published a carousel of images on his TikTok profile. In one of them, he appeared alongside teammate Cardoso Varela, both wearing Barcelona’s 2025/26 home kit.
The Brazilian and the Portuguese share a close relationship, and being linked with the Catalan club seems to add extra motivation for their current competitions.
Varela recently renewed his contract with Dinamo Zagreb until 2028, but remains a firm Barcelona target for the summer of 2026.
Both players are represented by Andy Bara, from the same agency that manages Dani Olmo and Joan Garcia.
At just 16 years of age, Cardoso Varela has already gained minutes with Dinamo Zagreb’s first team, appearing in several matches early in the 2025/26 season. Rafael Belinho, meanwhile, is still waiting to make his professional debut.
