Cowboys vs. Packers: Week 4 matchups to watch

Which matchup do you think is most important for the Cowboys this week?

Ever since the August 28 trade that sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, this Week 4 matchup for the Dallas Cowboys has been circled on all of our calendars. This is the first time Parsons will return to AT&T Stadium to face his former team, and it comes at a point when the Cowboys are sadly struggling to keep their season afloat.

Anywhere you look, Green Bay is heavily favored in this matchup and probably for good reason. Dallas’ defense is playing historically bad right now, and offensively they’ll be without three key starters for the foreseeable future. Things certainly don’t look good for the Cowboys, but that doesn’t mean there’s not some key matchups still worth watching this week.

Cowboys’ secondary vs. QB Jordan Love

Will Jordan Love be the next quarterback to shred the Cowboys secondary? It’s highly probable considering the big plays they’ve given up the past two weeks against both the Giants and Bears. They made QBs Russell Wilson and Caleb Williams both look like superstars and Love could be next. Whether it’s a lack of pass rush for all of the issues in coverage, there are just way too many things to fix in a short amount of time to believe they can do a complete 180 and turn things around. Anything is possible of course, but this seems like a matchup that heavily favors Green Bay and one that will likely sway the game in their favor.

QB Dak Prescott vs. Packers’ defense

Dak Prescott enters this Week 4 matchup with the Green Bay Packers at a severe disadvantage. Not only is he down two of his interior starting offensive lineman (Cooper Beebe, Tyler Booker), but he’ll also be without his best playmaker, CeeDee Lamb. This is less than ideal, especially considering Green Bay is one of the better defenses in the league so far this year. The Packers defense is only allowing 232 yards per game and holding opponents to just 14.7 points per game. They also just so happen to be the league’s leading scoring defense. Without his best playmaker and two starting OL, Prescott could be in trouble this week.

Cowboys’ OTs vs. DE Micah Parsons

Whether it’s Tyler Guyton or Terence Steele, you can bet both will see heavy dose of Micah Parsons in this Week 4 matchup. Guyton and Steele are two players Parsons should be very familiar with considering they were teammates only a few weeks ago. He should know better than anyone their strengths and weaknesses and how to exploit them in his favor on any given down. With two backup offensive lineman now starting on the interior due to injuries, Dallas really needs their bookend tackles to hold their on this week. That of course will be easier said than done going up against a revenge-seeking Micah Parsons.
