Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany does not see a feeble squad when he looks at Werder Bremen.

“You immediately see a new style of play under the new coach. They try to play dominant football, making quick combinations through the middle – not many do that to such an extreme. And that has a lot to do with the coach. I’m a fan of coaches who know the lower leagues and have been successful there. He has that,“ said Kopmany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

When asked about the potential for a “come down” or a “slump” after a red-hot start, Kompany said anything is possible in football.

“I say this from my experience of over 20 years in football: There can always be a slump. You can never know whether a dip in form will come. But we’re fighting against that with everything we’ve got. We’re currently in good form, and we’re always thinking about the next game,” Kompany stated.

For those wondering, a return to right-back for Joshua Kimmich is not likely in the cards.

“When someone plays as much as Jo, he’s important. I made the decision that he’s the more valuable player for the team in midfield. We never had any discussion about the position. He was one of the best midfielders last season, and he will remain so,” said Kompany.

Finally, Kompany spoke about the squad’s most recent injuries — Kim Min-jae and Jonas Urbig.

“Sven Ulreich will now take on the #2 role, that’s clear. If everything goes well in training today, he’ll be there against Bremen tomorrow,” said Kompany. “If everything goes well, we’ll have Jonas back against Frankfurt. But that would be very quick. I don’t want to put any pressure on him and the medical department. But he’s a fighter, so I trust him.”

Bayern Munich will host Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga match that — on paper — looks a little lopsided.

Okay, a lot lopsided.

The Bavarians are scorching hot and Werder Bremen has a slew of injuries, which makes for what could be a very tough challenge against a Bayern Munich team than can just wear down the opposition.
