An giant mural celebrating the England star Georgia Stanway has been painted in her home town.

Stanway was part of the Lionesses squad who won the Euros earlier this year and also in 2022.

The latest tribute to her was unveiled on the side of Stollers furniture store in Barrow-in-Furness, overlooking the stadium of the town's League Two side where her brother plays in goal.

There is also a painting, celebrating her part in the latest Euros triumph, at a shop in Dalton-Furness, a few minutes walk from her old school.

Lee Stoller, who commissioned the Barrow tribute, said: "I thought we could celebrate a local girl who's done really good and is a role model to lots of people in the town."

Stanway's brother Wyll, the Barrow AFC stopper, added: "I think it's something that should be celebrated as it can only mean more for the girls and for the women in football in Barrow."

England's Leah Williamson and Georgia Stanway lie in gold and silver confetti as they celebrate after winning the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final match between England and Spain, in Basel, Switzerland. They both wear their blonde straight hair in a ponytail and are smiling.

The Dalton-in-Furness artwork is to the side of the Tanning Studio in Market Street and its director Paul Griffiths said it was important to have the subject's approval.

He said: "I didn't have her contact details but did get in touch with her dad and he reached out to Georgia. She was instantly keen.

"If this has any kind of bearing on any other children taking up football or any other sport then that's a perfect outcome for us."
