Humphries will face some challenges this weekend.

We have one more stage event to go before the World Grand Prix of Darts begins in less than two weeks.
Although that's on the minds of many, rightfully so, we still have a fun tournament set to take place in Basel this weekend.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy predictions
Today, we're going to break down why some players have high odds at a title, as well as why some stars might be sent home early.

Luke Humphries
Humphries will be participating this weekend on the Euro Tour and might struggle in his second-round matchup.
He won't have to play Friday in the first round, so he'll play the winner of Callan Rydz/Connor Scutt.
These are two players historically known for being very dangerous on the stage when they catch fire, with high ceilings when they play their 'A games.'
Both Rydz and Scutt have had their highlights in TV events, which could pose a threat to the world number one's hopes of one last positive stage event before the World Grand Prix.
Jonny Clayton
Clayton is already a Euro Tour event winner in 2025, but it will take a strong effort out of the gate to get back to another final.
With Nathan Aspinall competing as an unseeded player on the Euro Tour recently, some seeded players have received unlucky draws that force them to play a talent like Aspinall so early in the tournament.
Clayton is the latest player who will likely match up with 'The Asp' in just the second round.
Of course, Aspinall will have to win his first-round match, but Clayton could potentially face a tough stretch of opponents, even if he avoids/gets past Aspinall, depending on how the tournament progresses.

Stephen Bunting
Bunting might be safer on the bottom half of the bracket, but his recent form doesn't suggest a promising run this weekend.
He won the International Darts Open earlier this year, in addition to deep runs at majors and at World Series of Darts events, but the past couple of tournaments haven't been pretty for 'The Bullet.'
He'll look to turn it around this weekend with a great opportunity ahead of him, especially after a brutal loss last weekend in Hungary against Thibault Tricole.

Let's take a look at which players could struggle against the competition this weekend.
Niko Springer
It's hard not to think Springer won't be in the mix after his incredible run to a title in Budapest last week.
He took down several big names along the way and possessed skills that we typically see only in veteran players.

Gian van Veen
Springer will have his shot, but could play van Veen if the two make the quarterfinal round on Sunday.
Springer has names such as Rob Cross and Danny Noppert in his path.
Cross has struggled on stage lately, and Springer defeated Noppert last week in their match in the final, which should give Niko some confidence in two potential matchups he could face this weekend.
Josh Rock
Assuming Rock can pick up a couple of wins to start the tournament, he shouldn't face a real challenge until the quarterfinal round.
No matter how the draw plays out, Rock is one of the best out there right now. He'll be welcoming any challenge he gets, as he seeks to break some of the barriers that have just prevented him from earning another Euro Tour title event trophy.
