Barcelona Face Potential Setback Before PSG Game in Champions League

PSG will take on Barcelona on October 1 in the UEFA Champions League group stage, with both sides riding high on early-season momentum.

The French champions began their campaign in commanding fashion, delivering a 4-0 win over Atalanta. They scored twice in each half, even without Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé in the lineup.

Barcelona matched that energy with a gritty 2-1 victory at Newcastle United, powered by a brace from Marcus Rashford. Both clubs remain among the favorites to lift the Champions League this season, and a strong performance in this matchup could set the tone for their campaigns.

Ahead of their clash with PSG, Barcelona got bad news following Thursday’s 3-1 win over Real Oviedo. Hansi Flick confirmed that Raphinha was taken off in the second half due to mild discomfort in his right leg.

Both sides are dealing with injuries heading into this contest. Le Parisien reports that Bradley Barcola and João Neves are set to make the trip to Barcelona and could see minutes against Auxerre.

The outlet also notes that Désiré Doué is making steady progress. He has resumed running on a specialized machine, raising hopes he might be available on the bench at Montjuïc next week.

In Spain, SPORT’s Carlos Monfort shared that Lamine Yamal is back training with the ball. His recovery is moving in the right direction, and Barcelona’s staff believe he has a chance to play in the upcoming match against Real Sociedad.

Still, the main objective is to have him fully fit for the showdown with PSG. Yamal has been dealing with a groin injury, and manager Hansi Flick recently gave an update on his recovery.
