Clash between Class 6A-I powerhouses and undefeated teams takes place in Jenks
How to watch Bixby (OK) at Jenks (OK): Live stream, kickoff time for Friday night showdown between Oklahoma Class 6A-I powers originally appeared on The Sporting News
Arguably the two best teams by far in Oklahoma’s highest classification, 6A-I, Bixby and Jenks square off in a highly anticipated showdown Friday.
Both teams come in with identical 3-0 records, and both the Spartans and Trojans have been able to score points while shutting down the opposition. Bixby has outscored its foes, 162-35, while Jenks has 130 total points while holding its opponents to 58 total points.
It’s also a matchup of two teams that have combined to win the last five 6A-I titles - the last three won by Bixby after the Spartans moved up from 6A-II, part of their current run of winning the last seven state championships. Not to mention it's also the District 6A-I-1 opener.
Bixby is also 88-4 since the start of the 2018 season, though two of those losses were to Jenks. Perhaps the two teams’ most famous game in that stretch was in 2022, when the Trojans ended Bixby’s state 11-man record 58-game win streak, though the Spartans got revenge several weeks later in a playoff rematch.
The Spartans are paced by quarterback Carson Kirby, who has thrown for 656 yards, and running back Jayson Moll, an Owasso transfer who has 217 yards and four TDs. Another Bixby standout, junior offensive lineman Kaeden Penny, recently committed to Oklahoma.
Perhaps the top playmaker for Jenks, senior tailback KD Jones, made headlines earlier this week when he de-committed from Oklahoma State in the wake of the school firing longtime coach Mike Gundy. Jones, the son of former Jenks and Oklahoma standout running back Kejuan Jones, has rushed for 537 yards and 10 TDs, while quarterback Landon Kizzar has passed for 691 yards. Both Kizzar and Kirby have thrown for eight touchdowns.
Jenks leads the all-time series, 58-28-5, though Bixby has won seven of the last eight games against the Trojans.
