Tegan Finn says signing his first professional contract at Plymouth Argyle was an "easy decision".

The 17-year-old winger has impressed since making his debut last season and scored his first two goals for the club against Tottenham Under-21s in the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday night.

It led to Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley calling for Plymouth-born Finn to get a call up for England's Under 18's side.

"I think for me playing first-team football regular was a massive thing for me to stay," says Finn, who had been linked with clubs higher up the pyramid.

"I think maybe if I moved elsewhere and played U21s football it wouldn't develop me as fast as if I was playing men's football every week.

"So I think it was a really easy decision for me and my family, obviously staying down in Plymouth as well is a massive factor."

Growing up as an Argyle fan - his favourite player was Graham Carey - has given Finn a love for the club that is is matched by his talent.

Former boss Wayne Rooney gave Finn his debut away at Leeds United as a 16-year-old making him the sixth youngest debutant in the club's history.

He says his dream is to impress in front of the fans at Home Park that he was once sat with - as well as earn international recognition after a fine display on Tuesday against Tottenham's U21 side, which had its fair share of England youth players.

"I want to play as many games here as possible, score a lot of goals, a lot of assists, make the fans happy, get us back in the Championship," he told BBC Radio Devon.

"I think the England U18s is something that I really want to push towards and try and get involved with that.

"Playing against a few players the other day who play for the U18s at England, I think I've got to try and get close to them, be obviously better than them in games and stuff to try and get involved in the team.

"But I think that's something I'm really trying to look forward to and trying to hope to get towards."

Argyle had a massive turnover of players in the summer following relegation from the Championship.

With a new head coach in Cleverley, Finn had a clean slate to make his mark - something he did on the club's pre-season tour to Austria.

"It was a big goal of mine to get Tegan tied down," Cleverley said.

"I saw his quality when we were out in Austria, and I made my opinion clear what I think is best for the player as well as the club, and under our guidance I think he can really develop.

"Tegan's a really exciting player, so it was a big achievement for us to get Tegan tied down.

"But again, he must be focused now, he must be as hard-working as ever to replicate performances like that."
