A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has seen his brilliance in the club’s latest outing aptly backed by the statistics.

Barcelona were of course back in action on Thursday night, making the trip to the Estadio Carlos Tartiere for a La Liga meeting with Real Oviedo.
When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of a 3-1 result, to keep alive what has been a fine spell of recent form.
The aforementioned De Jong was forced to make do with a spot on the bench from the off in Oviedo.
With 45 minutes on the clock, and his side trailing by a goal to nil, though, the Dutchman was introduced to proceedings by boss Hansi Flick.
And to say that De Jong went on to make his presence felt would be putting it lightly.
The former Ajax man completely changed the flow of the clash, providing much-needed extra authority in Barcelona’s midfield.
Not only that, but De Jong laid on the Catalans’ go-ahead goal courtesy of a brilliant cross.
