The 92nd meeting between two of Oklahoma’s most prevalent high school football programs did not disappoint…in the first half.
Bixby and Jenks entered Friday night as the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the Sooner State, respectively, according to the Massey Ratings. For two quarters of football, that looked to be the case as each offense was firing on all cylinders. Bixby took a 38-35 lead into halftime on the road in a hostile environment.
Unfortunately for Jenks, it wasn’t able to refuel the gas tank during the break. The top-ranked Spartans asserted their dominance in a big way as soon as the third quarter began. The final score at Allan Trimble Stadium shockingly read 66-35.
Senior quarterback Carson Kirby threw for six touchdowns in the win for Bixby. Jason Mall had two long touchdown runs for the Spartans. For Jenks, senior three-star running back and former Oklahoma State pledge Kaydin Jones found the end zone twice, the first of which was a 41-yard touchdown pass that opened the scoring for the Trojans.
That score set the tone that held strong through the first two periods. Jenks got out to a 21-8 lead in the first quarter behind junior QB Landon Kizzar, who finished with four passing touchdowns in the first half.
