Enzo Maresca has praised the scouting department at Chelsea for signing Joao Pedro from Brighton this summer.
Chelsea signed Pedro in a deal worth up to £60m, and the Brazil international was one of five attacking signings made in the window.
Pedro has hit the ground running at Chelsea, and is in line to face his former club for the first time at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Pedro arrived at Chelsea for the latter stage of the Club World Cup and made an instant impact as he scored three goals in three games.
The Brazilian scored twice in the semi final against Fluminense and scored the third goal in the final against Paris Saint Germain.

Pedro has carried his good form into the Premier League and has two goals and three assists in the opening five league games.
Joe Cole has claimed Chelsea don’t realise how good Pedro good is, and Maresca has thanked the scouting department for the 24-year-old.
“We knew that Joao was a very good player,” Maresca told Chelsea’s official website.
“The scouting department did a fantastic job because they knew him very well from Brighton.
“We are very happy with Joao. Since he arrived, he has played almost every game. In some moments, we need to think to give him some rest, but we are very happy with Joao.”

Marsesca went on to praise Pedro for his versatility and believes one of his standout qualities is his ability to solve problems.
“He can solve situations and problems in games,” Maresca added.

“It’s very important. That’s why we used Joao Pedro against Fulham and West Ham as a second striker, because he can also play between the strikers and midfielders.
“Until now, since the Club World Cup, he has helped us a lot, and we don’t have any doubt that he will continue to help us a lot this season. He’s a very good player.”
