ESPN college football expert and "College GameDay" personality Kirk Herbstreit ranks his top five teams entering Week 5
ESPN college football expert Kirk Herbstreit ranked his top five college football teams ahead of Week 5. Herbstreit is not super confident in his top five and it is hard to blame him. College football has been very balanced this season and a few teams, like the Penn State Nittany Lions (entering Week 5), remain untested.
Georgia Bulldogs check in as the fifth team in Herbstreit's top five, which he doesn't "feel good about" after four weeks of action. Georgia plays in a major Week 5 game as the Bulldogs host the Alabama Crimson Tide.
One of Herbstreit's top teams is Penn State, who finally faces a test in Week 5 against the Oregon Ducks. Herbstreit has confidence in Penn State even though they have not defeated a Power Four team yet.
"I know (Penn State coach) James Franklin hasn't done great against top five teams," Herbstreit said. "We'll see. I think this year is going to be different."
We'll see if Penn State, Georgia and some of Herbstreit's other top college football teams are ready for big tests in Week 5.
"By the way, all of these are gonna change next week," Herbstreit said. His No. 1 team, the LSU Tigers also faces a major challenge in Week 5 against the Ole Miss Rebels.
Kirk Herbstreit's top five college football teams
