Bayern Munich is on a tear!
Following a polarising summer transfer window and a lot of talk about a shallow attack, not many would have anticipated Bayern Munich to have the start they’ve had to the 2025/26 season.
In fact, after another victory, this time a 4-0 win against Werder Bremen, Bayern’s start to the season hasn’t just been good, it’s been perfect.
Bayern’s perfect form extends further than just the Bundesliga. ‘Die Roten’ have only seen victory across all competitions this season, including the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup, the DFB-Pokal and the UEFA Champions League.
The last time Bayern experienced such a successful start to the season was in the 2016/17 season (via @iMiaSanMia):
Bayern have started the season with 8 wins from 8 games for the first time since 2016/17 under Carlo Ancelotti
For the first time in years there is truly a feeling of optimism at Bayern and Vincent Kompany deserves his flowers. Sure, it’s still early in the season, however, the goals are flowing, the defense looks better than it has for years, there’s a positive atmosphere amongst the squad and Kompany is even starting to get performances out of fringe players. Kompany is doing a sterling job, let’s hope that the club does everything in it’s power to support the Belgian coach as the season continues.
Bayern Munich was the home side in the Bundesliga on Friday when Werder Bremen came to town.
The Bavarians decimated the visitors 4-0 in a game that was never really close. Bayern Munich was relentless and dominant in every aspect of the match. It is not as if Werder Bremen did not try, but the players just could not match up with the machine that was Bayern Munich.
Let’s get into all of the details — here is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
- A look at the starting XI — Tom Bischof and Leon Goretzka got the nod in the central midfield because Joshua Kimmich was sick.
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
- Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match.
