Season is almost over!
The second-to-last game of the year is set to commence as the A’s go for the series win in the middle game against Kansas City. And a victory this evening would also give the club a chance to finish the season with a sweep. Always a good way to wrap up the season!
For the home team, right-hander Luis Morales will get the ball for what’ll be his final start of his first year as a big leaguer. His first taste of The Show has been a success as the 23-year-old has more than held his own with a 3.07 ERA across nine games (eight starts). That’s given massive hope for the A’s that they have a rotation stalwart on their hands with high upside. Morales will first try to lower than ERA below 3 this evening with a strong final appearance of the year.
The Athletics’ starting lineup for tonight’s game looks like this:
The Royals meanwhile will counter Morales with veteran Michael Wacha. The 34-year-old has followed up three quality seasons with a bit of a step back in his second year in Kansas City. Over 30 starts the right-hander has an even 4.00 ERA which has actually been one of the better numbers in the Royals’ starting rotation. Like Morales he’ll be hoping to finish his season on a high note in what is the second year of a three-year contract with KC.
Our opponent’s starting nine breaks down like this tonight:
Let’s secure the series win and give ourselves a chance at a season-ending sweep. Let’s go A’s!
