This is the live blog for Carlos Ulberg vs. Dominick Reyes, the light heavyweight main event for Saturday’s Fight Night card in Perth, Australia.
A City Kickboxing fight, Ulberg came into the UFC to much fanfare, but immediately disappointed, losing his debut to Kennedy Nzechukwu via knockout. It was the first loss of Ulberg’s MMA career, and this far, it remains his only one. Since then, Ulberg has strung together eight consecutive victories to put himself on the cusp of a light heavyweight title shot.
A former light heavyweight title challenger, Reyes is the man who should have beaten Jon Jones, losing a controversial decision to him at UFC 247. After Jones left the division, Reyes was thought to be the next champion, but instead his career fell off a cliff, with Reyes losing three more fights in a row and considering retirement. But somehow, Reyes turned it around and he’s now won three straight fights, returning to title contention in one of the best stories going at 205 pounds right now.
