Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has provided an update on striker Etiosa Ighodaro, who is yet to make his debut.

The center-forward was an off-season signing on a free transfer after his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns expired at the end of last season.

Due to a standoff with Masandawana on his clearance, Ighodaro’s signing was delayed, and he missed the pre-season camp in the Netherlands.

Upon his arrival at Naturena, the Nigerian marksman suffered an injury in training and Kaze has given a brief update on his recovery.

“Ighodaro has been injured but the medical department promised us he [will be back soon]. He started this week as well to train with the group without contact,” said the Burundian tactician.

“But we hope that after the international break he will be ready to go.

Kaze also touched on the club’s registration woes in the CAF Confederation Cup, revealing several key figures are expected to miss out in the next round.

“If I’m not mistaken, Mayo is not going to be able to play until the group stages, I will have to verify but I believe that Ighodaro is going to be [unavailable] until the group stage, Maboe as well,” he added.

“But we have other players that are available and probably will help the team, the likes of Mako, Monyane, Ndlovu and Ethan will be available for selection.
