Carrollton (Ga.) four-star cornerback Dorian Barney has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Ole Miss, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
After visiting Oxford this weekend, Barney is now locking in with Lane Kiffin and the Rebels. He was pledged to the Wolverines since July 5, when he chose them over the likes of Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Penn State and Georgia Tech. Barney is also a former Alabama commit.
The 6-foot-0.5, 170-pounder is the No. 237 overall prospect and No. 24 corner in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 27 player in Georgia.
Barney had been on flip watch this fall, with Ole Miss and Georgia Tech the two programs at the helm of the pursuit. He returned to Oxford over the weekend and saw the Rebels take down LSU in a thriller. Already familiar with the program, he now becomes a major addition to a class that now ranks inside the top 20 of the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
“The environment was crazy,” Barney told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong after the visit this weekend. “My first time going to a Ole Miss game didn’t disappoint me. The direction (Kiffin is) leading the team in is great, he’s one of the best coaches in college football. If they keep playing this way I see a Natty in them.”
Rebels add crucial piece to 2026 class
With Barney now in the fold, Ole Miss has 19 commits in its 2026 class. He’s now one of the five highest-ranked commits in the mix for Kiffin and Co.
The class is filled with talent from around the nation, but the class jewel is right in the backyard. De kalb (Miss.) Kemper County four-star running back Damarius Yates is the No. 113 recruit and No. 7 RB in the nation. He pledged on May 4.
Yates is one of five in-state commits in the class. New Albany (Miss.) four-star offensive tackle Emanuel Tucker flipped from LSU earlier this month, while Tupelo three-star CB Iverson McCoy flipped from Mississippi State this summer.
Barney and McCoy are two of six defensive backs in the class to date. Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland four-star safety Craig Tutt is a top-300 recruit. College Park (Ga.) Buford three-star safety Nascar McCoy and Lincoln City (Ind.) Heritage Hills three-star safety Jett Goldsberry both committed in July. Nettleton (Miss.) Tupelo three-star CB Braylen Williams has been in the fold since April.
Other top commits in the class include: Duncanville (Texas) four-star EDGE Landon Barnes, Decatur (Ill.) Mt. Zion four-star tight end JC Anderson, Baton Rouge (La.) Central four-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett, Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville four-star wide receiver Corey Barber and Loganville (Ga.) Grayson four-star linebacker Anthony Davis.
