‘I couldn’t believe it’ – Dro Fernandez blown away after making Barcelona debut

A memorable day for the teenager

Barcelona youngster Dro Fernandez admitted he was shocked to find out he was in the starting XI to face Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday.

The 17-year-old made his debut at Montjuic and played the first 45 minutes of the game that ended in a 2-1 win for Hansi Flick’s side.

Dro spoke to the media after the game and couldn’t hide his delight at making his first senior appearance for the club.

“I’m happy, very happy. It’s incredible. When they told me I’d be starting, I didn’t believe it at first, but then I calmed down,” he said, via Mundo Deportivo.

“The players and the coach reassured me, they told me to do what I do well in training, and that gave me confidence.”

Flick also spoke about Dro after the game and is thrilled to be able to call upon the teenager to help out his squad.

“He’s a very talented player. He’s a Barça player,” he added.

“It’s great to have these kinds of players to be able to manage minutes. I really like that everyone tries to give their best. This is what we need because we have a lot of games.”
